Great steps in human progress are made by things that don't work the way philosophy thought they should. If things always worked the way they should, you could write the history of the world from now on. But they don't and it is those deviations from the normal that make human progress.
Organization - In other words, the basic philosophy, spirit and drive of an organization have far more to do with its relative achievements than do technological or economic resources, organizational structure, innovation and timing.
Research is an organized method of trying to find out what you are going to do after you cannot do what you are doing now. It may also be said to be the method of keeping a customer reasonably dissatisfied with what he has. That means constant improvement and change so that the customer will be stimulated to desire the new product enough to buy it to replace the one he has.
So our self-feeling in this world depends entirely on what we back ourselves to be and do. It is determined by the ration of our actualities to our supposed potentialities; a fraction of which our pretensions are the denominator and the numerator our success: thus, Self esteem = Success. Pretensions such a fraction may be increased as well by diminishing the de nominator as by increasing the numerator
Some have well said, "Success is a journey, not a destination." Happiness is to be found along the way, not at the end of the road, for then the journey is over and it is too late. Today, this hour, this minute is the day, the hour, the minute for each of us to sense the fact that life is good, with all of its trials and troubles, and perhaps more interesting be cause of them.
Recipe for success: Be polite, prepare yourself for whatever you are asked to do, keep yourself tidy, be cheerful, don't be envious, be honest with yourself so you will be honest with others, be helpful, interest yourself in your job, don't pity yourself, be quick to praise, be loyal to your friends, avoid prejudices, be independent, interest yourself in politics, and read the newspapers
To find a career to which you are adapted by nature, and then to work hard at it, is about as near to a formula for success and happiness as the world provides. One of the fortunate aspects of this formula is that, granted the right career has been found, the hard work takes care of itself. Then hard work is not hard work at all.
Success lies very largely in our own hands. It means effort; it means having a definite aim and striving earnestly to achieve it; it means wise planning, a knowledge of oneself, of one's circumstances and possibilities; it means the power to judge truly of possibilities; it means the power to judge truly of values.
An intelligent plan is the first step to success. The man who plans knows where he is going, knows what progress he is making and has a pretty good idea when he will arrive. Planning is {he open road to your destination. If you don't know where you are going, how can you expect to get there?
